New Year's Eve Proposal: Act I

Next week brings the release of  the new single, I Want to Marry You”! Probably the happiest, most upbeat song I've written! To help inspire you… read Act I of “The New Year's Eve Proposal”.

It was New Year's Eve, North Hollywood, in our 1 bedroom apartment. Simone and I were in bed, relieved the fireworks (gunfire?) had calmed down. Bed? More, mattress on the floor.

As she began to drift off to sleep, I became entranced — watching her head move ever so slightly up and down on her pillow with each passing breath. It was the sweetest thing I'd ever seen.

The sudden realization of how much I adored her was so overwhelming that I felt I needed to express it but was hesitant to make a sound because I wanted the moment to last forever.

So I grabbed my guitar, paper and pen, and quietly began to write the lyrics with melody:

I love to watch you sleep
The way you breathe in and out
A little smile on your mouth

(Ooh…I loved that…it captured the moment.)

I love to watch you play
The way you sparkle at night
You're my guiding light

(Ha! We had lit sparklers earlier!)

No matter what you're doing I adore you
No matter where you're going
I'm gonna' be there with you

(Yes, I thought, this feels right! And then…)

I want to marry you
Please say I do
I'm in love with you
I want to marry you
Please say I do
Let's make one from two

(Wait what??? We're the “we won't get married people!!!”)

END of ACT I

If you “Pre-Save” next week's single, I Want to Marry You, I'll share ACT II next week! Okay, I'm sharing it anyway, but still…
