“Free That Part of Me” — the first single from my new album will be out on August 16!
Decades ago, my long-time consciousness teacher asked me, “What do you want?” What arose in me was one word: Freedom. He shared that if I truly wanted freedom, it needed to be “Absolute Freedom.”
At the time, my highly intelligent response was, “Um… huh? Whaddayamean?” Never one to hand me answers, he had me dive in deeper to explore it.
What I found was that absolute freedom transcended what I wanted. It wasn’t freedom to do this or that, be this or that, or have this or that.
An unequivocal “state of freedom” whether I had millions of dollars or was homeless and on the street. A deep sense of freedom regardless of whether Simone lived or died, or if I would be ill and in pain. A freedom that would pervade every aspect of my life and being.
“Free That Part of Me” is all about this process of finding our way to freedom. Hope you’ll give it a listen when it’s out in two weeks!
