My voice has always been suited for melodic tunes, likely because of the influences that shaped my musical taste.
Over the years, many people have commented that my music has a Beatle-esque quality to it. In fact, two engineers at Abbey Road Studios in London said that, which really surprised me. Ha! I remember feeling somewhat embarrassed and a bit of a thief, but blushed and couldn’t stop smiling. 😊 And while I don’t quite hear it that way, I can see how others might.
I certainly haven’t been accused of being a soul or R&B singer. Shocking, I know. 😂 But somehow, singing Ain’t No Sunshine seems to work. And for the brief moments I get to sing it, I feel shifted. It’s like there’s a whole different vibe alive in my body that doesn’t show up when I sing other R&B songs.
